To be fair to the writing of Rimuru, he does eventually pay for his carelessness and being a pushover on multiple occasions. After Volume 15, Rimuru honestly comes off as being borderline paranoid.

They should've included the banquet and hot spring scenes as it was fun and the fan service part is good too but alas we only will see it on the END.

Tensura is a story with a plethora unique and interesting characters. For Gabiru I enjoyed his arch and growth. He was the son of the chief, arrogant and had a really big ego. Got a big reality check after almost damming his people but in a sense he got a second chance. You can see the humility he gained. Taking responsibility and accepting the consequences for his actions. Even becoming one of Rimuru's top generals. He's still the fun loving oof with a great ego but you can see the humidity he's learned. Gabiru is just one of the many compelling characters in tensura and even if he only got a few episodes to show his arch it was a great one. To me Gabiru is a great example of someone that holds themselves in high regard with a massive ego but also able to show humility. That is a compelling character
